OUR BELIEFS

Our beliefs describe our theological positions on key aspects of our faith. We have a biblical theology that is centered on Christ and His message, rather than a theology that is merely rooted in tradition. These beliefs are derived directly from Scripture (both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible).

The Word of God

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts. We believe that it was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

The Trinity

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

God the Father

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

God the Son

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, co-equal with the Father. We believe that Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. We believe that He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death, that He ascended to Heaven, and that He will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit who is co-equal with the Father and Son. We believe He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. We believe that He gives every believer spiritual gifts to build up the Church.

Human Beings

We believe that humans are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. We believe that although every person has tremendous potential for good, all are marred by sin.  This curse separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

The Gospel

We believe that all people are sinners by nature and by choice and therefore are separated from God, deserving eternal punishment in hell. Salvation cannot be earned by self-improvement or doing good works, because all are guilty before God. We believe that because of Christ’s death and resurrection, everyone who puts their faith in Christ alone receives eternal life. This eternal life starts now and lasts forever.

The Church

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all born-again believers are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a community of believers in Jesus Christ who join together for worship, fellowship, ministry, and mission. We believe that God has given the members of the local church the primary responsibility of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.

The Priesthood of Believers

We believe that every believer has direct access to God. We believe that every believer is called to full-time Christian service, regardless of his/her vocation. We believe that every believer is therefore a minister and should find a place of service and ministry.

The Ordinances

We believe that Jesus Christ has given two ordinances to the local church, two symbolic practices that Jesus commanded us to do as believers: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that baptism by immersion is a public declaration of our faith in Christ. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was given for us to remember Christ’s death on the cross for our sins.
